In Memoriam Fukushima
The Hurricane Healing initiative was established in 2005, with the vision to help all victims of the Hurricane Katrina disaster that same year. Since then, Hurricane Healing has grown to give a helping hand to all victims worldwide who have been affected by natural disasters including those in Haiti, Chile and the most recent tsunami disaster in Japan.
Stefan Meylaers wrote the composition "In Memoriam Fukushima" especially for those who carry the tragedy of Fukushima in their heart. This wonderful piece is now available on Hurricane Healing, vol. 81.

Mango
For the second year in a row the FFEM (Fédération Française de l’Enseignement Musical) has chosen a composition of Stefan Meylaers as compulsory work for the more than 1200 music academies in France. Mango is written for euphonium and piano and published by Lantro Music.

Bad Boys - 4/12/2010
A hymn-like and melancholic melody is floating on a steady percussive background. This awesome almost hypnotising composition is written in retro style and features exciting independent metric and rhythmic layers. Instrumentation: trumpet, honky tonk piano, strings, oboe, bassoon, horns, bass clarinet and percussion.

Aracoara (Sunset)
Stefan Meylaers wrote Aracoara, a composition for string quartet and piano, in 2003 during his stay in Brazil - the land of passion, music and football. It’s at the junction of the sunset that the melancholic warmth blends with the exuberant atmosphere of the samba.

In memoriam Henryk Gorecki
On 04/10/2010 Stefan Meylaers performed the integral oeuvre for piano solo from Górecki during the 8th edition of Pianotune. This international piano festival which focuses every year on another theme was this time dedicated to the Polish music. Górecki, who is a source of inspiration and one of the beloved composers of Meylaers passed away on 12/11/2010.

"Amazonas" in Carnegie Hall, New York
Composition for piano and orchestra in a breathtaking homage to the Amazon Rainforest. Performed by the composer himself at the piano together with the legendary João Carlos Martins and his Bachiana Orchestra, it was an historical event that left behind an inerasable musical impression.

"De smaak van De Keyzer", October 11th 2009
With the TV series "De Smaak van De Keyzer" the Belgian broadcasting studios wrote TV history in 2009. This project will be officially closed during a live performance of the film music accompanied by original images on big screen. Stefan Meylaers was asked to arrange the music by Wim De Wilde and to compose extra music for this unique concert. Besides being the artistic director, Stefan will also conduct and play the piano at the performance. Many special guests will be present.

Pianotune 2009 - Latino
From October 1st until October 7th the province Limburg (Belgium) is inviting 8 international renowned piano performers specialized in the Latino repertoire. The invited guests are: Raquel Boldorini (Uruguay), Mario Spinnicchia (Italy), Ricardo Usciatti (Argentine), Leonel Moralis (Spain), Olinda Alessandrini, Segio Monteiro, Miguel Proenca (Brazil) and Martin Münch (Germany). The festival gives a unique insight at the classical music written for piano. Stefan Meylaers helped to coordinate this special festival.

Konzert im Schlos December 13th and 14th at 7 pm
Stefan Meylaers gives two castle concerts with the wonderful singers Stepanka Hermankova (soprano) and André Poddighe (tenor). "Dancing with the notes": A sparkling journey through the history of dance and music with two dancers and five musicians. Stefan Meylaers is the artistic director of this show, produced by the Limburgs Symfonie Orkest (the Netherlands). Stefan wrote all arrangements and new compositions including "Funky Town" (oboe/violin/horn/piano/percussion). He will also play the piano.
